EMT Memories

05/09/2010 1 comment

It’s EMT time now. One year has passed since last EMT. Time moves so quick. It was full of fun last year during EMT. This year there are just memories about them. For friends who don’t know what EMT is: EMT (Evangeline Memorial Tournament) is a South India level sports tournament conducted by Karunya University every year in the month of September. It’s the only fun filled event for Karunyans.
Last year EMT was packed with loads and loads of fun. The fun starts from the preparation for the EMT itself. It’s a tradition to design and print a department t-shirt every year. Since we missed this fun in the third year, we dint want to miss it in the final year. T-shirt design started much early and was printed and was out on the EMT day.

Next there is a compulsion to work for EMT to earn non-academic credits in our college. Since many of us lacked credits, we were forced to do some work to earn credits. That was left for the juniors to work and we get the credits.
Next fun is in cheering the teams for the match. “Sasi Kumar” from our class played for volley ball team representing Karunya. Cheering our boys and shouting like thunder to encourage them is another fun.
Next fun is in the food court. I don’t think we forgot our Sankar and Nelson matter and also the Kakka matter. It’s was all fun. Now they are just sweet memories of our college life. Those days are never going to return. Those moments are cherished forever in my life.

Paradise Lost

I’m in my final year now. I have come to Infosys for my project. My college life is coming to an end. I feel as though I am losing my heaven. I miss my friends a lot. I will never get people so lovely like them. I miss my college life especially my hostel life. It has been around one month since I came to Infosys for my Internship program. When I was given a chance to go to Infosys for a project, I didn’t want to miss that. But only after coming here, I realise that life without friends is not so complete. Though there are many people around me, I feel lonely. My college life, in actual sense started only in the second year when I came to the legendary section “2010 CSE C” of Karunya University. We rocked the whole college. It was full of fun and enjoyment. Everyday starting from early in the morning to late night, it was fun everywhere in the hostel. Every day starts with going to all the rooms asking for paste, shampoo, oil, shaving cream etc., taking bath in the open, sharing shirts and pants, going to assembly as a gang, going together for drinking water, mocking at others and a lot more. Whenever a friend goes home, we’ll be waiting for him to bring snacks from home. Rajesh’s Manapparai murukku, Joshua’s Kovilpatti kadala-muttai, Richard’s Tirunelveli halva. Will miss them all. We may get all those snacks in future but can’t get the fun of fighting for the snacks. Stealing shirts… I mean sharing shirts and pants. I’m gonna miss the nights where we’ll go to each other’s room in search of shirts. We’ll hide them in our room till we wear the next day to class. Those shirts used to stink the most. We’ll be using all brands of perfume to cover that smell. I’m gonna miss the dress collection in my room’s common table. There will be a heap of shirts and pants from every room in that table. And when the heap is disturbed you’ll find mosquitoes coming out of that. The smell which comes when we enter our rooms… wow (yuck)…The smell of the socks thrown outside in the nearby rooms… Birthday Celebrations and being caught by the warden during that… Sitting in the class near the windows and teasing every girl going in the veranda… I’m missing the comfort which I enjoyed being with my friends… There is a saying which goes like “The use of shadow is understood only in the sun”. My internship will get over only by may 20. But before that all my friends will go home. I might not get a chance to meet all of them together again. I should not have come for the internship program. I feel very bad for my decision.
